1. How does the program work?

If you are experiencing a problem that is troubling you, call EAP Coordinator Steven Cantrell, (CASAC) on the private and confidential EAP telephone at (631) 360-7686.

2. What is the confidentiality policy?

All employees using the EAP services do so without any risk to employment status. All discussions with the EAP coordinator are confidential and will not be mentioned in any way to anyone else.

3. What is the cost?

There is no cost for the services or follow-up contact offered by your EAP coordinator. When continued counseling is recommended and referrals are made for appropriate services, the employee is responsible for the cost of the treatment that is not covered by their insurance. The EAP Coordinator can help employees look at alternative programs, taking into consideration insurance and finances.

4. What is the E.A.P?

The EAP (Employees Assistance Program) is a confidential service which can provide help and referral to employees and their family members who are experiencing stress, which may be affecting their work and home life. The EAP is available to help you in the areas of: Alcohol and other drug abuse, emotional difficulties, marital discord, family issues, financial hardship, gambling, debting and other related matters.

5. What presentations are available?

EAP informational seminars are available to any department. These presentations provide support and information on:

• How to get along with difficult people
• Services provided by the EAP of Smithtown
• Stress Reduction
• Team Building

Each presentation is approximately one hour in length and will be held in your department offices. For more information, please call (631) 360-7686 or fax (631) 360-7687. Preregistration is required.

6. What is the office hours and location?

The EAP is located in the offices of Horizons Counseling and Education Center of 161 E. Main St.


The office is opened Monday to Thursday from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm and on Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Friday summer hours (July 1 to August 31) is 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.
