The Kings Park Bluff was transformed into an outdoor concert venue on Saturday, as Nathan Dean and The Damn Band finished up their Nationwide Tour, along Bootleggers Trail with Bootsie Magou Straight Bourbon Whiskey. The free concert was hosted courtesy of Smithtown Supervisor Ed Wehrheim and the Town Council, in conjunction with Relish Kings Park, The Inlet (coming soon) and Gusto’s of Hauppauge (coming soon) at the Kings Park Bluff, to close out the Summer Season. Local families packed the parking lot with tailgate-style picnic setups, while boaters set up across the Nissequogue River towards Short Beach to enjoy the live performance. The Show was emceed by David Capo, who introduced Middle School Vocalist Kieran Brown to sing the National Anthem. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Vietnam Veteran Tom Mooney and members of the Smithtown American Legion Post 833. Additionally, the American Legion was set up with a table for T-shirt sales, fundraising for the James Ely Miller Post 833 Hall repairs. Nathan Dean and The Damn Band drove through the night to take the stage at the Kings Park Bluff, promptly at 7PM, to close out their National Tour.
“What a night it was! Nathan Dean and The Damn Band gave an incredible live performance, unlike anything we’ve ever seen. I want to thank Donnie Brown and David Capo, who brought this idea to us, our partners; Relish Kings Park, and two venues opening soon, the Inlet and Gusto’s of Hauppauge, for sponsoring the event. Also, a special thanks to our Parks Department and the Department of Public Safety who worked tirelessly for two weeks straight to ensure a seamless event. This vision began as a way to give back to our incredible community… a way to say Thank You to the wonderful people of Smithtown… However, I believe the success of this concert will likely make this a new tradition here in Smithtown.” - Supervisor Ed Wehrheim
