In an effort to protect the health and wellbeing of both the residents and town staff during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Town of Smithtown has orchestrated a Drive Through Tax Collection Operation. Beginning on Monday, December 14th through January 11th, residents wishing to pay their taxes in person can do so safely from the comfort of their cars. Payments made by check or cash are accepted in person through the drive through system. (Credit Card payments are online only.) Residents requiring a receipt must include their current tax bill. Otherwise, the cancelled check will serve as your receipt. (Please include district, section, block, and lot numbers on your check to identify your parcel.)
Residents should wear face masks for additional safety upon arriving at the drive through. In an effort to continue social distancing measures, residents are encouraged to utilize the online system, or the Tax Receiver's drop box, which is located at the side entrance of Town Hall. The secure drop box is checked by Tax Receiver’s Office staff regularly.
Credit Card Payments:
All Credit Card payments must be made online via SmithtownNY.gov from the Tax Receiver’s Page or via the COVID-19 button in the Citizen Help Center on the homepage.
Credit card payments can also be made by using the automated telephone system at 1-877-690-3729; Jurisdiction code #4227.
