Meet the Smithtown Animal Shelter’s Pets of the Week; Captain Kirk and Chester.
Captain Kirk and Chester are both Senior Male Domestic Shorthair mushes. Both of these kitties are FIV+ and have had rough lives in the streets before their time in the shelter. For now, they’re just looking for the family they need and deserve. They’ve got a lot of life experience under their belts, but have plenty more love left to give. Both good fellows would prefer to be in a home without dogs or other male cats.
Captain Kirk is the most loving cat you will ever meet. He does have some neurological issues that affect his back legs, but you would never guess it, given his great attitude. Captain Kirk is always focusing on the positive, and would love to spend the rest of his days snuggling and cuddling with anyone.
Chester was brought into the shelter by a Good Samaritan who found him wandering the streets. If you want an affectionate cat, Chester is the right cat for you! Despite his rough start to life, he is still trusting and friendly to all people. He’s got a very social personality and loves to spend time with humans.
Currently, there are a variety of male and female cats & kittens available to adopt or foster. If you are looking for a fun loving, yarn tossing ball of love, stop by the Kitten Nursery or the Cat Condos at the Smithtown Animal Shelter and find a PURR-fect soulmate or two!
All of the felines at the Shelter are current on vaccines and have received a full workup (blood work, Feline HIV & Leukemia tested, physical exam etc) by a board certified Veterinarian.
If you are interested in meeting Captain Kirk or Chester, please call ahead to schedule an hour to properly interact with them in a domestic setting, which includes our Meet and Greet Room. Family Pet Meet and Greets and at home interactions are also welcome and an integral part of the adoption process.
Spay/Neuter Clinic:
The Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation will hold a Low Cost Spay/Neuter Mobile Clinic at the Smithtown Animal Shelter on March 25th as well as April 8th & 22nd. To book appointments, please call (631)-566-8870.
Thinking About Adoption:
The Smithtown Animal Shelter’s primary concern is finding the perfect home for each animal that finds his/her way to us. The Animal Control Officers and Kennel Attendants at the Smithtown Animal Shelter will go out of their way to ensure both the rescued and rescuer are made for one another.
Residents who have other pets can arrange to bring your four-legged family member to the shelter or set up an at home meet & greet to see how your prospective family member does with other family, pets and the household itself. Please allow yourself an hour minimum to meet with your potential new family member.
