[ARCHIVED] Smithtown Pets of the Week

Stamp, Arnold, Bubble Wrap

Arnold and the Black Cats

The Smithtown Animal Shelter’s Pets of the Week are one of our newest pups, Arnold, and two fashionable kittens, Stamp and Bubble Wrap. Arnold is a two/three year old Male Pit Bull Terrier. Bubble Wrap and Stamp are a pair of eight month old sister kittens who were found at the post office.

Arnold is a gentle fellow named after the Terminator with a heart of gold himself. He’s a big guy with a soft teddy bear disposition. He knows basic commands and gives lots of love and affection to everyone he meets. His well-mannered nature helps him do well with children, but he would prefer a home without other pets in it.

Bubble Wrap and Stamp were brought to the shelter as newborns in need of urgent medical care. Against all odds they survived, and now they are trying their luck to find excellent homes. These kittens know that humans helped them to grow strong when they were babies. Because of this bond, they are extremely social and affectionate. Ideally, these kitties will be adopted together so they can continue to play together all day long.

Currently, there are a variety of male and female cats & kittens available to adopt or foster. If you are looking for a fun loving, yarn tossing ball of love, stop by the Kitten Nursery or the Cat Condos at the Smithtown Animal Shelter and find a PURR-fect soulmate or two!

All of the felines at the Shelter are current on vaccines and have received a full workup (blood work, Feline HIV & Leukemia tested, physical exam etc.) by a board certified Veterinarian.

Spay/Neuter Clinic:

The Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation will hold a Low Cost Spay/Neuter Mobile Clinic at the Smithtown Animal Shelter on January 29th, February 12th, and February 26th. To book appointments, please call (631)-566-8870.

Thinking About Adoption:

The Smithtown Animal Shelter’s primary concern is finding the perfect home for each animal that finds his/her way to us. The Animal Control Officers at the Smithtown Animal Shelter will go out of their way to ensure both the rescued and rescuer are made for one another. If you have other pets, you can arrange to bring your four-legged family member into the shelter, or we can set up an at home meet & greet to see how your prospective new addition does with other family members, pets, or the household itself.

Walk-In Hours at Smithtown Animal Shelter are currently Monday - Friday 8AM - 4:30 PM and Saturday 8AM - 3:30PM. (Sunday’s: by appointment only). To inquire about the Pet of the Week or to meet your potential soulmate, please call the Smithtown Animal & Adoption Center at 631-360-7575.
