[ARCHIVED] Town of Smithtown Prostate Cancer Screening Event

Prostate Cancer Screening

In conjunction with Prostate Health Awareness Month, The Town of Smithtown and Integrated Medical Foundation will host free Prostate Cancer screenings at the Smithtown Town Hall Board Room on Tuesday, September 10th, from 11AM to 1PM. PSA Blood tests will be performed by professionals from Integrated Medical Foundation. Participants have the option of receiving a non-invasive DRE Exam performed by Dr. Thomas Harrington, MD, FACS Advanced Urology Centers of NY - Smithtown South.

This event is open to all men over the age of 40 who have not previously been diagnosed with prostate cancer, regardless of whether or not they have insurance. To schedule a free screening, RSVP to 631-257-6070. Participants must bring a photo ID and a self-addressed stamped envelope in order to be notified about the results. 

DID YOU KNOW:

1 out of 9 American men will have Prostate Cancer in their lifetime, and 1 out of 41 men will die from Prostate Cancer.

Cancer is the second leading cause of death in the United States, exceeded only by heart disease.

September is the official Prostate Health Awareness Month in the Town of Smithtown.

Statistics show that regular screening can lead to early detection of prostate cancer. Screenings have decreased the prostate cancer death rate by nearly 40% since they began 20 years ago. IMF urges men over 40, or men with a family history of prostate cancer, to talk to their health care provider about prostate cancer.
