Michael Fallon (Boy Scout Troop 349) Delivers Brand New Supplies to Smithtown Animal Shelter
Boy Scout Troop 349’s Michael Fallon delivered a mountain of pet-care essentials to the Smithtown Animal Shelter on Friday May 31st. Fallon collected the items during a pet supply drive, which he orchestrated to receive his Star rank. The Supply Drive was planned and hosted on Saturday May 18th from 9:30-11:30 at Petco in Lake Grove. Fallon and his fellow scouts were on hand to help collect donations for the Smithtown Animal Shelter.
“What an impressive young man… He showed initiative in identifying a need, finding a target market and soliciting his friends to help in a team setting. He’s a Star in our community and we are truly thankful for his commitment to enriching the lives of our rescue cats and dogs.” - Supervisor Ed Wehrheim
In only two hours, Michael Fallon had collected $500 in cash donations and a truck load of essential pet supplies. Fallon used the cash donations to purchase additional supplies, including kitty litter, wee wee pads, blankets, beds, treats, toys, food & grooming items for the Smithtown Animal Shelter
“I love witnessing our youth take an active role in community service. Michael planned this project from start to finish and he saw the whole thing through. We will make great use of all his supplies, especially those that we can give to foster families.” - Councilwoman Lisa Inzerillo, Smithtown Animal Shelter Liaison
Michael enjoyed some playtime with a few very grateful rescue kittens & pups who tested out the toys with him on friday afternoon. This donation comes during the peak of kitten season, when the shelter relies on Foster Families to care for infant kittens. Fostering supplies are essential to the volunteers who will devote their days and nights to bottle feeding kittens and ensuring their healthy progress.
