[ARCHIVED] Smithtown Pets of the Week

OreoMandy.jpg

It's raining Tuxedo Cats and Dogs!

OREO, Great Dane/Terrier Pup Introducing Oreo, the Smithtown Animal Shelter Pet of the Week, a 1-year-old Male Great Dane/Terrier Mix. Oreo is a playful, energetic pup who doesn’t realize his own size. He is good with older kids (Ages 10 and up) but not a fan of other animals. He would do best in a home with a big open yard to run around in.

Oreo is Neutered, microchipped, and is up-to-date on his vaccines. All dogs and cats at the shelter are up-to-date on current vaccines and have received full workups by a board certified Veterinarian.

Thinking About Adoption:

The Smithtown Animal Shelter’s primary concern is finding the perfect home for each animal that finds his/her way to us. The Animal Control Officers and Kennel Attendants at the Smithtown Animal Shelter will go out of their way to ensure both the rescued and rescuer are made for one another.

Residents who have other pets, can arrange to bring your four-legged family member to the shelter or set up an at home meet & greet to see how your prospective family member does with other family members, pets and the household itself. Please allow yourself an hour minimum to meet with your potential new family member.

Mandy, the Tuxedo Kitten

Mandy was brought to the shelter in August when she literally ran into a woman’s home. This affectionate nine month old kitten lives in our nursery where she socializes with other cats. Mandy is great with kids, other cats and secretly believes she’s really a lap dog.

Currently there are a variety of male and female kittens available to adopt or foster, from red headed to cobalt blue, calico and tortoiseshell domestic short-hair and long… If you are looking for a fun loving, yarn tossing ball of love, stop by the Kitten Nursery at the Smithtown Animal Shelter and find your PURR-fect soulmate or two!

All kittens (and cats) are current on vaccines and have received a full workup (blood work, Feline HIV & Leukemia tested, physical exam ect) by a board certified Veterinarian. In addition to these two playful brothers, the Animal Shelter has a variety of kittens available for adoption (or to foster) in addition to older, wiser and loving cats

Hours at Smithtown Animal Shelter are currently Monday - Friday 8AM - 4:30PM and Saturday 8AM - 3:30PM. (Sunday’s: by appointment only). To Inquire about the pet of the week or to meet your potential soulmate, please call the Smithtown Animal Shelter at 631-360-7575.
