[ARCHIVED] SMITHTOWN’S ‘65 ROSES’ PROJECT FOR CYSTIC FIBROSIS AWARENESS

Help us reach the goal of planting 65 rose bushes by the month's end, for Cystic Fibrosis Awareness

WHAT: 65 Roses to be planted through the month of May in honor of Cystic Fibrosis awareness. Town officials will join with various community organizations with the common goal to plant 65 Rose bushes by the months end.

WHO: Elected Officials: Supervisor Ed Wehrheim, Town Council Members Tom McCarthy, Lynne Nowick, Lisa Inzerillo & Tom Lohmann, Town Clerk Vincent Puleo, Superintendent of Highways Robert Murphy and Receiver of Taxes Deanna Varricchio Smithtown
Family: Emily and James Cianci - the parents of Lucas, a five year old boy who has cystic fibrosis. Lucas’ grandmother, Debbi Haupert has become an advocate in promoting education and awareness for Cystic Fibrosis.
Local Civic and Chamber of Commerce leaders: from Kings Park, Nesconset, Smithtown & St. James will also be in attendance.

WHEN: Thursday May 10th, 2018 at 2:30 PM.

WHERE: Town Hall located at 99 W Main Street in Smithtown

DETAILS: Lucas and his family will join elected officials and local community leaders in the kick off planting of rose bushes at Town Hall on Thursday Afternoon. The Town will present a surprise gift to Lucas after the photo opp and planting. The ultimate purpose of this month long initiative is to inform the public about genetic screening prior to conception.

THE GOAL: We're hoping to plant at least 65 rose bushes by the end of May. Residents and local community groups who chose to plant rose bushes this month, should tag photos of their Rose bushes on instagram, twitter and facebook #65RosesSmithtown. We will update the community regularly with photos and social media through the month
