FDNY/Commack Fire Department Funeral Protocol for Lt. Christopher J. Raguso


Expect heavy traffic and road closures during the Wake and Funeral service of fallen NYANG (New York Air National Guard) 106th Rescue Wing Master Sergeant and Commack/FDNY Firefighter Lt. Chris Raguso. Traffic is expected to be heavy in both hamlets of Commack and Kings Park from Thursday - Saturday. The Funeral procession will begin at 11am at St. Joseph’s Church (59 Church St. Kings Park). However traffic and road closures are expected to begin at approximately 8 AM.


The immediate area around St. Joseph’s Church (south of Main St.(25A), Old Dock, Church St., Kohr Rd.) is subject to shut-down earlier for F.D.N.Y. setup in front of St. Joseph’s Church. (as early as 6:00 am)


Saturday Morning at 10:30 am:  

Road Closures Indian Head Rd. Northbound will be shut down. All side streets North of Kings Park Rd. on Indian Head to Main St. Kings Park. Church St. southbound will be closed at Old Dock Rd. Main St. (25A) eastbound will be closed at Pulaski Rd./Old Dock  Main St. (25A) westbound will be closed at Lawrence Rd.


Alternate Routes

Traffic westbound Main St (25A) will be diverted southbound Lawrence to Old Northport Rd. or straight through to Jericho Tpke. (Rte. 25).

Traffic eastbound Main St.(25A) will be diverted to Pulaski Rd. to Old Commack Rd. to Old Northport Rd.

Traffic northbound on Indian Head will be diverted to Old Northport Rd.   

Traffic southbound on Church St./Kohr Rd. will be diverted northbound to Sunken Meadow Rd.


Supervisor Wehrheim has asked all residents to plan according and to please have patience out of respect for the family and friends of Lt. Chris Raguso. In lieu of flowers, donations are being collected online to benefit the children of Lt. Raguso via the FDNY Foundation.  All who wish to contribute can do so by visiting: www.fdnyfoundation.org/donate/ Scroll down to the “Fund” column and click on the "Scholarship Fund to Benefit the Children of FDNY Lieutenant Christopher Raguso" from the drop-down menu.
