A Draft Scoping Document for proposed amendments to Chapters 177 and 322 of the Smithtown Town Code regarding Organic Waste Processing Facilities is available for the public to review and comment.
The Town of Smithtown Town Board has recently issued a SEQRA Positive Declaration and Notice of Scoping regarding the above proposal, requiring public scoping and preparation of an Environmental Impact Statement.
A Draft Scope has been prepared by the Town and is posted below. All items identified in the Draft Scope will be addressed in the Environmental Impact Statement. Comments from the public identifying additional issues which should reasonably be considered in the Environmental Impact Statement should be submitted to the following address:

The comment period on the Draft Scope runs until 5:00PM on October 18, 2019. The Town will then prepare a Final Written Scope, which will provide the basis for the subsequent Draft Environmental Impact Statement.
