The Town Board of the Town of Smithtown, as SEQRA Lead Agency, has recently issued a SEQRA Positive Declaration and Notice of Scoping regarding the above referenced proposal, thereby requiring public scoping and the subsequent preparation of an Environmental Impact Statement regarding this matter.

A Draft Scope has been prepared by the Town’s consultant and is posted on this website. All items identified in the Draft Scope will be addressed in the subsequent Environmental Impact Statement. At this time, the Town is requesting written comments from the public identifying additional issues which should reasonably be considered in the Environmental Impact Statement. Such written comments should be submitted to the following address:

Mr. David A. Barnes, Director

Department of Environment and Waterways

124 West Main Street

Smithtown, New York 11787

The comment period on the Draft Scope runs until 5:00 pm on January 31, 2020. Upon completion of the comment period, the Town will prepare a Final Written Scope which will provide the basis for the subsequent Draft Environmental Impact Statement to be prepared regarding this matter.
