The Community Development Program is a federally funded program that primarily benefits low and moderate income town residents. There are a number of different projects done through this program, including:
Projects to make public facilities, including sidewalks, accessible to people with disabilities;
The Home Improvement Program, to provide interest-free loans for qualified home-owners to bring their homes up to code and do repairs to major systems, within the scope of the Program (please be advised: requires a mortgage against the property);
Projects to assist senior citizens, such as the "Voice of Help," which provides emergency alert devices for seniors, a telephone reassurance program that makes daily calls to seniors living alone, and a Senior Citizen Home Maintenance Program that does small repairs.
