Horizons is a not-for-profit agency funded to provide adolescent and adult treatment, prevention and education services for drug and alcohol related problems.
  • Daytime and evening counseling groups available.
  • Fees are based on a sliding scale. Private insurance, Medicaid and Medicare are accepted. Payment methods include: cash, check, MasterCard and Visa.
  • Ancillary Withdrawal Services available on site through Central Nassau Guidance Counseling Services
  • Drinker Driver Classes available on site through Stony Brook Drinker Driver Program.

Counseling
Counseling is by appointment only. Co-occurring services, Psychiatric evaluations and Medication Assisted Therapy available. Please note that in case of inclement weather, if counseling and education services are to be cancelled, an announcement will be made on News 12 Long Island, WBLI, and WBAB.

Parenting Programs
Parenting programs are available to assist parents in the development of effective parenting techniques. These presentations include:

  • STEP
  • The Art of Encouragement
  • The Art of Resiliency
  • Incredible Years
  • Par-Other Group (treatment and support for the parents of substance abusers who are refusing treatment)

Free Drug Testing Kits Available
Courtesy of the Suffolk County Sheriff's office there are free drug testing kits available upon request.

Overdose Prevention Rescue: Narcan Training
Horizons Counseling and Education Center
 is offering Narcan training to anyone who is interested in learning how to prevent an opioid overdose.

Narcan, also known as Naloxene, is a prescription medicine that reverses an opioid overdose. Drugs in the category of opioids include heroin, morphine, oxycodone, methadone, hydrocodone, codeine, and other prescription pain medications. This training will inform and train attendees on the administration of Narcan. If you are interested in becoming trained, please contact Horizons at (631) 360-7578.

Join the Youth and Community Alliance of Smithtown
The Youth and Community Alliance of Smithtown is a town-wide coalition established in 2006. Individuals from all sectors of the community are welcome.  The mission is to promote the health and wellness of young people; mobilize schools and communities; and utilize resources to create and sustain an environment where destructive decisions, underage alcohol use, tobacco use, marijuana, and opiate use is reduced.
