Town of Smithtown Storm Recovery Update Nov. 11,2012 - 2:00 pm

Town Working with LIPA to Perform Clean up and Restore Power
As of Sunday Nov. 11 @ 02:00 pm, LIPA is reporting under 1000 outages in the Town of Smithtown. This number is down from 10000 Thursday. These numbers include outages from the initial storm and outages caused by last night’s nor’easter. Restoration efforts continue as conditions allow. As power is restored, new outages might occur.
Do not assume LIPA is aware of your outage. For additional information or to report an outage, visit www.lipower.org or phone 800-490-0075 .

Note: A Cell-phone charging station will not be available on Monday, Nov. 12.

With nice weather expected this weekend, please take the opportunity to stack branches and brush at the curbside.

******Please exercise caution when driving as you may come upon road closures due to the Town continuing to remove brush and branches throughout the holiday weekend.

Normal garbage collection resumed on Monday November 5th 2012. Recyclables are also being picked up based on the regular schedule.
Numerous storm related hazards such as downed trees and hanging wires still exist which may restrict access by collection trucks in certain areas. Thank you for your patience during this time.

***Please refrain from putting leaves at the curb until further notice.

Use caution while traveling as some intersections still do not have power and streets may still be closed due to downed trees and limbs.

Downed wires should be considered live and avoided at all costs.
