ABOUT VINCENT PULEO | TOWN CLERK

Since 2006 Nesconset native, Vincent Puleo has been regarded for revolutionizing the office of the Town Clerk. He has brought the office into the 21st Century, integrating efficient operating systems and an electronic records network. 

In more recent years, Puleo was the recipient of Grant funding for his Intergovernmental sharing initiative, that has also been revered by the Governor. Collectively, Vincent Puleo has saved Smithtown millions in tax dollar spending going paperless.

Outside of the Office Vincent Puleo has served as a volunteer Firefighter, for more than 45 years. Since 1993, Puleo has held the title of Nesconset Fire District Fire Commissioner and is a five time chairman with the department. He is active on numerous civic and philanthropic organizations and is the President of the Nesconset Chamber of Commerce.

He has been the recipient of a number of electronic database & shared services grants to streamline record retention into electronic databases. Puleo has been at the forefront of helping all three villages and the majority of Fire Departments to consolidate records maintenance by using shared services.

Puleo orchestrated a massive Records Retention initiative creating four times the space for vital paper records. 

Most recently, Puleo oversaw archiving approximately 25-30 years of BZA records onto laserfiche. All records are now automated and completely paperless

Puleo has also begun to mainstream registering for town permits online. Residents can now get kayak, boat slip permits and dog licences online.   

Puleo has created a Veterans Resource Center in the Town Clerk's office equipped with a computer free to use for Veterans, Military and their families. Resources include tools to help with health services, job opportunities, homeloans, government assistance and more.

Vincent Puleo is also a member of the Veterans Resource Committee, which helps to bring awareness to veterans services, assist local veterans groups with hosting ceremonies and events, honorable flag disposal, disseminate important information to active duty military and veterans on benefits & services and much more.
